Easy Breezy Past Couple of Days

Buenos Noches!

Mama Nove is a little upset that I didn't post anything yesterday, so I figured I should post something now!

Yesterday was pretty relaxing.  Ronnie, Janet's property manager, has three kids - Jonathan (12), Hernan (8), and Noamie (3).  All three of them had a graduation ceremony from their school on Friday, so Janet took their whole family out to lunch.  They go to an English speaking school, and all three are doing very well!  Ronnie, his wife Rena, the three kids, an aunt, and grandma, or "the mother of my father" as Jonathan says, and our group all went down the hill to the restaurant.  We all had a good time, and the family really appreciated it!  Here's the family:

After lunch, we went into Teguc to the Mi Esperanza center, and opened the store for another group.  Annie, Maddie and I manned the checkout table, and we did pretty well with sales!

This was the sky on our way back from the city last night.

Today was really busy!  We left Santa Ana this morning around 7am to go into Teguc to the Mi Esperanza center.  A group was going to come to the store, but plans are always changing in Honduras, so no one ended up coming today.  From the center, we went to the airport to pick up Janet's daughter, Steph, niece, Maggie,  and two grandchildren, Christian and Emma.  Maggie is staying with us until the 23rd, and Steph and her kids will be here until the 28th.  Steph's husband, Dave, will be joining us this Friday.

The Teguc airport is a crazy place though!  There is only one flight in from the US and one flight out of Honduras to the US per day.  The flight from the US gets in around 11am, and the flight out leaves at noon.  There's only one terminal in the whole place, and the waiting area is filled with people as well!  It's a great place to people watch!  While we were waiting for Steph et al to land, Annie and I went to the Tigo shop to get sim cards for our phones.  Not going to lie - it was kind of weird not having a phone for the past few days, but freeing at the same time.

Since we have so many people now, Janet rented a 15-passenger van for the next two weeks.  We now refer to her as Mother Goose.  We drove back to Santa Ana this afternoon and had lunch at the restaurant.  Then we just hung around Janet's house for the rest of the day.  Annie and I attempted to make our own version of the famous lemonada con soda, and it was a success!

We were supposed to head to the mission house tonight, but one of the groups missed their connecting flight in Miami, and won't be getting in until very early tomorrow morning.  We figured we would save a little money by staying at Janet's house one more night...poor us!  Tomorrow we'll be building two houses, which should be pretty interesting for me considering how handy I am.

I've been getting better at Spanish - I can listen to conversations and pick out a few words every now and again.  Sometimes I'm keeping up with the conversation, and other times I have no idea what's going on.  I'm getting really good at repeating phrases too.  Annie and Janet think that I have a good accent, which is surprising since Rosetta Stone flunked me on my pronunciation skills.  Oh well!

I'm heading to bed - I have a feeling this week is going to be pretty exhausting!

Hasta luego!
