First Week in Hondo Recap

Buenas Noches!

I hope you all are well! So sorry I have not updated my blog lately - it's been very busy over here in Hondo. My first week has gone really well though! Monday was spent setting up the store, counting inventory, and figuring out the logistics of how we were planning on running the store. The rest of the week has consisted of mission groups coming to shop, counting and recounting inventory, and calculating our sales.

On a side note, I was given an iPad as a graduation present (thanks Mo!), and prior to coming over to Honduras, I took a business class at the Apple store. I did this because one of the biggest obstacles Mi Esperanza has faced was finding a way to track inventory in order to figure out what our best selling products are. The Apple business class presented several different applications that would track inventory, shipments, and create different types of forms. So on Monday, I put my newly learned knowledge to the test and created a new inventory system for Mi Esperanza! It's so exciting! Now we know how much of each item was sold at the end of each day! Okay, so this might only be exciting for me and a few others, but it really is a huge accomplishment for the organization.

Also, since my time at Mi Esperanza last summer, the school has grown so much! ME has moved its beauty school from Lori's house (one of the co-founders) to the ME center, and is much larger. The original office has been moved to a different and larger section of the center, and the old office is now the ME Sale room (soon to be called "Esperanza's Basement"). So now the sewing, computer, and beauty school are all centrally located! I've been so busy that I forgot to take pictures of all the changes, but I will do that tomorrow and post them.

Okay, it's sleep time for this chica. More to come soon, I promise!

Hasta Luego!
